The purpose of this test is to evaluate the axial strength of the nut seat of wheels intended for use on passenger cars, light trucks, and multipurpose vehicles. In addition, a minimum contact area is recommended to ensure enough strength for the rotational force in tightening a nut against the nut seat. While this test ensures the minimum strength of the nut seat, the wheel must also have a degree of flexibility. This flexibility, as well as bolt tension, are important to maintain wheel retention.

SAE J1939-81 (“Network Management”) defines the processes and messages associated with managing the addresses of applications communicating on an SAE J1939 network. Network management is concerned with the management of addresses and the association of those addresses with an actual function and with the detection and reporting of network related errors. Due to the nature of management of addresses, network management also specifies address selection and address claiming processes, requirements for reaction to brief power outages, and minimum requirements for ECUs on the network.
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) specifies the inside diameters, cross-sections, tolerances, and size identification codes (dash numbers) for O-rings used in sealing applications and for straight thread tube fitting boss gaskets. The dimensions and tolerances specified in this standard are suitable for any elastomeric material provided that suitable tooling is available.
