This SAE Recommended Practice provides DA metrics used to quantify the DDT performance of ADS-operated vehicles.3 Here, the primary focus is on the safety-related DDT performance and includes definitions, taxonomy, characteristics, and usage (along with alternatives) for each metric. DDT performance is a subset of overall operational performance of ADS-operated vehicles. Thus, assessments of DDT Fallback [1], cybersecurity, maintenance, interactions with passengers, etc., while important and could have an indirect impact on the DDT, are out of scope for this document. Note that the DA metrics do not specify the actions and/or maneuvers to be executed by the (ADS-operated) subject vehicle (SV). While this document presents a set of individual DA metrics, it is important to note that it is out of the scope of this document to describe how these metrics should be applied in practice. This is because the overall context of the scenario or deployment must be considered during DA metrics

The majority of the procedures can be applied to other display technologies, however, it is cautioned that some techniques need to be tailored to different display technologies. The document covers monochrome and color LCD operation in the transmissive mode within the visual spectrum (the wavelength range of 380 to 780 nm). These procedures are adaptable to reflective and transflective displays paying special attention to the source illumination geometry. The AS81824 specification covers environment resistant, permanent crimp type, splices having heat shrinkable insulating sleeve and meltable environmental seals or heatless sealing sleeves. The splices may be used with tin, nickel, and silver-plated conductors in applications where the total temperature of the splice application does not exceed 200 °C or as specified in the detail specification.

This SAE Recommended Practice establishes a rating scale for subjective evaluations of noise and discomfort in motor vehicles. Through test procedures utilizing specific vehicles on specific roads, the scale may be utilized to assess the relative contributions of tires to noise and discomfort. The noise and ride comfort characteristics attributed to automotive tires have traditionally been estimated by subjectively assigning number designations (commonly on a 1 to 10 scale) to the audible and tactile sensations observed while traversing a given road course in a vehicle equipped with the tires under evaluation. Regardless of advances in objective measurements of tire properties related to noise and discomfort, subjective evaluation will continue to be necessary for the purpose of establishing the significance of such measurements. The rating scale of this recommendation is applicable to assessment of each of the wide variety of audible and tactile disturbances referred to by such terms

This SAE Standard is equivalent to ISO 362-1:2015 and specifies an engineering method for measuring the noise emitted by road vehicles of categories M and N under typical urban traffic conditions. It excludes vehicles of category L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5. The specifications are intended to reproduce the level of noise generated by the principal noise sources during normal driving in urban traffic. The method is designed to meet the requirements of simplicity as far as they are consistent with reproducibility of results under the operating conditions of the vehicle. The test method requires an acoustical environment that is obtained only in an extensive open space. Such conditions are usually provided for during: Measurements of vehicles for regulatory certification and/or type approval Measurements at the manufacturing stage Measurements at official testing stations Annex A provides background information on the use of this standard consistent with the intent.

This SAE Recommended Practice establishes the test procedure, environment, and instrumentation for determining the maximum exterior sound level of highway motor trucks and truck tractors over 4540 kg gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) with governed engines under stationary vehicle conditions. The basic procedure involves a full throttle engine acceleration and a closed throttle deceleration with the engine inertia as the load.

This document describes a manufacturing method for processing unidirectional carbon fiber/epoxy resin impregnated sheet and tape into multi-ply broadgoods and tape produced on an automated cross-plying machine. Broadgoods or tape of two or more ply configurations may be processed, where ply orientations of 0°, 45°, 90°, and 135° (as examples) may be automatically layed in a programmed sequence. In all configurations, the 0° ply direction is parallel to the length of the broadgoods roll or sheet, or tape.

This document describes a systematic and rigorous process to: (1) identify and evaluate standard names and definitions for driving automation system features, and (2) identify a “user vocabulary” of terms and descriptions that [human] drivers use to describe driving automation system features. The process described in this document includes selection criteria and trade-offs that can be used to select an approach to testing that matches the constraints and objective of a particular evaluation. The data from this process are analyzed to determine users’ name preferences for driving automation system features and what they would expect a specific feature to do, based on the name given to the features. The data generated by this naming methodology can provide guidance regarding the names that may support accurate understanding of the feature’s capabilities and limitations. The primary focus of this document is to provide information on the impacts hard landings and abnormal load conditions on landing gear and related systems. However, because hard landings potentially affect the entire aircraft, this document also includes information for non-landing gear areas. The document may be considered to be applicable to all types of aircraft. This document does NOT provide recommended practices for hard landing inspections, nor does it provide recommendations on the disposition of damaged equipment. Refer to ARP4915 and ARP5600 for information on dispositions relating to landing gear components or wheels involved in accidents/incidents.
