UAS stakeholders like original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), suppliers, operators, owners, regulators, and maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) providers face many challenges in certification, airspace management, operations, supply chain, and maintenance. Blockchain—defined as a distributed ledger technology that includes enterprise blockchain—can help address some of these challenges. Blockchain technology is evolving and also poses certain concerns in adoption. The Class A Task Force of the Vehicle Network for Multiplex and Data Communications Committee is publishing this SAE Information Report to provide insight into Class A Multiplexing. Multiplexed actuators are generally defined as devices which accept information from the multiplexed bus. A multiplexed actuator can be an output device controlled by the operator or an intelligent controller. A Multiplex actuator can also be a display device that reports the status of a monitored vehicle function. This document is intended to help the network system engineers and is meant to stimulate the design thought process. A list of multiplexed actuator examples is provided in Appendix A, Figure A1. This is an initial release of a recommended practice for an interface to supplier simulations that utilize traditional inter-process communication (IPC) methods of shared memory and semaphore communications. These IPC methods are standard practice in the computer science world and allow for communication by separate processes running on a computer without any common runtime requirements. This allows things like 32-bit applications to talk with 64-bit applications, as well as any other compiler version or runtime library dependencies being required by the calling program to interface with the called model. This also allows the calling program and the called program to be run on separate CPUs to allow parallel execution of the called program as well as multiple instances of the called program to execute all on separate processors. The task of chemical process operator in the parts cleaning area is generally considered unskilled labor and in the past, little or no training had been provided or recommended. Since overhaul cleaning is a critical process step prior to visual and fluorescent penetrant inspection processes, consideration must be given to minimum levels of training for these process operators. It is the responsibility of the department supervisor to ensure that all personnel within the department are trained to acceptable level in all general aspects of health and safety and basic operating procedures. This document is intended to augment the local quality control system which will control the application and frequency of the guidelines stated within.

This SAE Recommended Practice applies to vehicle exhaust smoke measurements made using the Snap-Acceleration test procedure. Because this is a non-moving vehicle test, this test can be conducted along the roadside, in a truck depot, a vehicle repair facility, or other test facilities. The test is intended to be used on heavy-duty trucks and buses powered by diesel engines. It is designed to be used in conjunction with smokemeters using the light extinction principle of smoke measurement. This procedure describes how the snap-acceleration test is to be performed. It also gives specifications for the smokemeter and other test instrumentation and describes the algorithm for the measurement and quantification of the exhaust smoke produced during the test. Included are discussions of factors which influence snap-acceleration test results and methods to correct for these conditions.
