The paper focuses on the principle of metal wire resonators, the development, and validation of a model for measuring liquid viscosity and density, alongside the optimization design of the resonator. Initially, an in-depth analysis of the operational mechanism of metal wire resonators is conducted, followed by the establishment of both mechanical and electrical models. These models are then interlinked to derive the critical parameter correlations between them. By refining the electrical model, a more precise electrical measurement model is formulated and experimentally verified for accuracy.Furthermore, by reducing the order of hydrodynamic functions, a simplified model applicable for measuring liquid viscosity and density using metal wire resonators is constructed. This model is validated using two sets of publicly available data, with calculated results affirming the correctness and simplicity of the derived theoretical model. By simplifying the principle of model 1, the calibration results achieved in this study are nearly congruent with those reported by M. Heinisch for model 1. However, our approach requires fewer calibrated parameters, involves a smaller range of liquids for calibration, and significantly reduces the computational burden, thereby validating the rationality of the simplified model presented in this paper. In Model 2, only the two maximum parameters of viscosity and density are used for calibration. Remarkably, the calibration outcomes are comparable or even superior to those of Wu Dehong's method, further substantiating the soundness of the simplified model derived in this research.In summary, the simplified model proposed in this paper can accurately measure the viscosity and density of liquids.
