This paper presents a mathematical formulation of a new modified half car model where the effects of anti roll bar and the dynamics of control arms are incorporated in the model. The model response of the new modified half car is compared with conventional half car model using computer simulation. Semi ctive roll control suspension system using active force control strategy (AFC) is also investigated in this paper. The proposed control strategy is compared with passive and semi active system with PID control scheme. The simulation results show that under the same condition of road disturbances, the output amplitude variation of the new modified half car model is lower but agree with the response of the conventional half car model and giving a better description for the plant dynamics than conventional half car model. In terms of body roll, roll acceleration and body acceleration, semi active roll control suspension system with AFC strategy also shows its superiority than passive and semi active half car system with PID control scheme.
