- Recently, global interest in hydrogen as a powerful, promising and clean source of energy has increased. Green hydrogen production is considered one of the most important modern projects worldwide, as it is the way to achieve a clean and sustainable environment. There are several methods for producing hydrogen, the most famous of which are: 1) Electrochemical separation of water; 2) Heating waste plastic at a high temperature using low-carbon emission technology. However, both methods still suffer from complexity and high cost, which calls for the search for scientific solutions to reduce economic costs and make hydrogen available to everyone at reasonable prices. While the first method is considered the best and easiest to produce high-purity hydrogen, but it faces challenges in collecting hydrogen on the surface of the positive electrode (cathode) in a way that is suitable for collecting it in a safe and less expensive way, so that it can be used in multiple applications, especially in operating cars. Therefore, this paper focuses on studying and evaluating the current situation using metrology systems and engineering materials to provide proposed solutions for developing the cathode and its surface in order to improve the production of green hydrogen, which contributes to reducing production costs and enhancing its sustainability in operating cars, thus participating in protecting and providing a clean environment. Keywords: Green hydrogen, electrochemical separation, cathode material and surface, sustainability, clean environment.
