- Typical CAE support in automotive industry is focused on using finite elements analysis to support vibrations and acoustics. The virtual methods have multiple advantages compared to physical test in terms of time to produce results and the cost of multiple iterations been assessed is lower in the CAE models. Particularly in vibrations finite element models have proved to be reliable to correlate with testing in the case of low frequencies. High frequencies are challenging for CAE predictions and low frequency models show a limitation to perform vibration analysis, the results usually tend to deviate from the testing. This investigation covers the work done with finite element models specially prepared to analyze high frequency vibrations of structural components in a body in prime.
