- The popularity of Baja vehicles in recent trends illustrates the evolution and recognition of these All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) among the engineering and motorsport societies. It is well-known for their ability to resist extreme off-road conditions, owing to stringent design and testing methods. This paper focuses on Design and analysis of braking systems for Baja All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). Brakes in every vehicle play a significant part in critical situations and to have a smooth vehicle control, especially in off-road racing environment, brakes aid in having a better vehicle control over tight corners, grades, obstacles, and steep descents. The investigation is carried out on the complications that come along with off-road environments, including aspects like traction, heat dissipation as well as resistance to wear and tear. Consequently, there are OEM components used such as Master Cylinder brake pads and brake linings and custom parts used for example brake pedal and caliper. The Custom components were designed and fabricated following the meticulous considerations of tolerances with appropriate selection of materials. Morphological analysis and dynamic testing are employed in order to test the variety of brake configurations and materials in terms of their performance optimization while safety standards are preserved. The calculation is carried out to determine the total braking torque produced, total braking force required, minimum stopping distance, thermal values among others. The results obtained seek to offer overall improvement in braking effectiveness and reliability of Baja ATVs hence contributing to enhanced vehicle control and rider security under demanding off-road environments.
