- With the continuous development of artificial intelligence technology, the automation level of electric vehicles is rapidly advancing. However, while automation enhances travel efficiency, safety, and convenience, it also leads to increased energy consumption due to high-level intelligent driving technologies, resulting in higher overall energy consumption of intelligent electric vehicles compared to traditional vehicles. To assess the impact of autonomous driving systems on vehicle energy consumption, this study collected data on vehicle operating conditions and energy consumption under different levels of intelligence through literature review and expert consultations. The study analyzed both the positive and negative impacts of intelligent driving technologies on vehicle energy consumption at various levels of driving automation, including energy savings achieved by intelligent technologies through traffic signal control to reduce congestion, as well as the additional energy consumption of computing tasks associated with autonomous driving technologies. This paper evaluates the positive and negative effects of intelligent technologies on vehicle energy consumption and provides scientific and reasonable comprehensive evaluation and optimization recommendations.
