- One aspect of the evolution of environmental thinking can be described or exemplified by analyzing the use of Environmentally Adapted Lubricants (EALs). Lubricants can in many cases be a significant environmental aspect of many business activities. The transformation to more widespread use of EALs thus could well be a contribution to sustainable development. Also, it could (and should!) be a part of the continual improvements undertaken by an ISO 14000-certified actor. The EALs become a starting point for further “environmental work” and changes. One example is found in Swedish forest industry.
