HFTC4, Operator Seating and Ride
The Human Factors Technical Committee (HFTC) is part of the Construction, Agriculture, and Off-Road Machinery (ConAg) Council. The HFTC is responsible for standards related to the design, development and application of human factors engineering (man-machine interface). The goal is to enhance human performance on construction, general purpose industrial, agricultural, forestry and specialized mining machinery. Categories include off-road, self-propelled work machines as defined in SAE J1116. The following work machines are specifically excluded: powered industrial trucks. The committee maintains a liaison with the SAE Off-Road Machinery Technical Committee, SAE Agricultural Tractor Standards Committee, ISO/TC127 and ISO/TC96, CIMA, and EMI. The HFTC is comprised of four subcommittees dedicated to creating, preparing and maintaining all relevant specifications, standards, and requirements. These subcommittees include: HFTC SC1 Controls, Visibility, Anthropometrics, Accessibility HFTC SC2 Machine Displays and Symbols HFTC SC4 Operator Seating and Ride HFTC SC6 Operator Accommodation Participants in the SAE HFTC committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and others across the construction and agriculture industries.
