This SAE Standard applies to 12 V, automotive storage batteries of 180 min or less reserve capacity. This life test simulates automotive service when the battery operates in a voltage regulated charging system. It subjects the battery to charge and discharge cycles comparable to those encountered in automotive service. Other performance and dimensional information is contained in the latest issue of SAE J537.
This document is intended as a guide toward standard practice, but may be subject to change to keep pace with experience and technical advances.
The scope of the Storage Battery Standards Committee is to create and maintain performance, durability, safety, control and interface (electrical, electronic and mechanical) standards for electrical energy storage devices used for engine starting and electrical load support in on-road ground vehicles (passenger car, light, medium and heavy trucks) having an internal combustion engine for primary motive power. In addition, this shall include components related to emergency starting and standby/backup power for critical electrical subsystems of the vehicle.

Wild Cards
Using the asterisk, ( * ) allows you to search for a partial word. For example, entering a keyword search of aero* will search for any word beginning with aero.
Using the question mark, ( ? ) allows you to search for a word with a single character wildcard. For example, searching for t?re would match both tire and tyre
Using Quotes
Words in double quotes " " are treated as a phrase. Conducting a search for "heat model" will return all results in which the exact phrase "heat model" is found, while "heat modeling" would NOT be included.
A term combined with a phrase will be joined with an OR operator.
