Scope
This specification covers environment-resisting, quick disconnect, EMI/RFI shielded and non-shielded umbilical, electric connectors and adapter assemblies with removable crimp or nonremovable solder-type contacts and accessories. Connectors are rated for operation from -55 °C (-67 °F) to 200 °C (392 °F). Adapter assemblies are rated for operation from -55 °C (-67 °F) to 125 °C (257 °F). The upper temperature is the maximum internal hot spot temperature resulting from any combination of electrical load and ambient temperature.
Rationale
Revision is required to add AIR1351 reference, to replace MIL-HDBK-454 requirement reference with the applicable information and to update all document references to reflect latest published versions.

Issuing Committee
SAE Subcommittee AE-8C1, Connectors, shall be associated with those activities directed by the parent SAE Aerospace Council and the SAE Aerospace Electronics and Electrical Distribution Systems Committee, for the development and application of electrical optical connector and associated hardware standards and specifications. SAE Subcommittee shall also serve the needs of the Navy, Army, and Air Force through the establishment and maintenance of User Advisory Committees.
