This specification covers tools used to install tiedown straps on wire bundles and for installing connector accessory shield termination bands (see 6.1).
Rationale
The document is written to permit the cancellation and supersession of MIL-DTL-81306. It includes Qualifying Activity (QA) requirements as specified by AE-8 directives, the removal of government jargon, updating specification references, and the addition of the connector accessory band tool requirements.

SAE Committee AE-8C2, Terminating Devices and Tooling, shall be associated with those activities directed by the parent SAE Aerospace Council the SAE Aerospace Electronics and Electrical System Group, within SAE AE-8 Aerospace Electrical/Electronic Distribution Systems, for the development and application of electrical, or optical fiber, connector and associated hardware standards and specifications.
