- Revised
Scope
Rationale
-
Restatement of the rationale that was omitted from the previous revision.
-
Removal of language in the post-deicing/anti-icing communication to clarify all communication.
-
Additional note on ice ridges and impact of air flow over pitot tubes.
-
Additional language for deicing service providers to ensure the compatibility of fluids.
-
Alignment of symmetrical procedures between deicing and anti-icing.
-
Additional Types II, IV application table note for use surrounding LOUT and removal of the Type III heated application table as these no longer exist.

Issuing Committee
The SAE G-12 Aircraft Ground Deicing committee addresses all facets of aircraft ground deicing equipment–design, maintenance, operation, and in-service experience. It provides a focal point for the related activities of the various specialty groups and committees dealing with aircraft ground deicing. The group is comprised of eight subcommittees dedicated to creating, preparing, and maintaining all relevant specifications, standards, and requirements for aircraft ground deicing systems. These committees include:
G-12ADF Aircraft Deicing Fluids
G-12DF Deicing Facilities
G-12E Equipment
G-12FG Future Deicing Technology
G-12HOT Holdover Time
G-12M Methods
G-12RDP Runway Deicing Products
G-12T Training and Quality Programs
Participants in the SAE G-12 committees include OEMs, suppliers, aircraft ground deicing equipment companies, consulting firms, government and others across the aerospace and defense industries.
