Scope
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) establishes the dimensional and operational requirements for pallet extension devices. It provides support for items of cargo beyond either the short or the long sides of a pallet, allowing increased volume to be achieved in conjunction with pallets meeting the requirements of AS1491 plus additional pallet sizes usable with extenders.

Issuing Committee
Committee AGE-2 reports to the Aerospace General Projects Division. The main, or governing committee, AGE-2, is composed of the most experienced members, mainly from the airlines, airframe manufacturers, and support equipment manufacturers, to provide leadership and guidance for the Membership to implement the work is drawn with reasonable balance from airlines, airframe manufacturers, support equipment manufacturers, and others with special aircraft related expertise. Members serve based on their knowledge, expertise, and experience and not as agents or representatives of any organization.
