Scope
This specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of bars, wire, forgings, extrusions, flash welded rings, and stock for forging, extruding, or flash welded rings.
These produces have been used typically for parts requiring excellent corrosion resistance and high strength from -423 degrees to +1100 degrees F (-253 degrees to +593 degrees C) and for welded parts without subsequent heat treatment, but usage is not limited to such applications.

AMS F Corrosion Heat Resistant Alloys Committee
The committee of Corrosion and Heat Resistant Steels and Alloys and Specialty Steels and Alloys, AMS Committee F, will prepare, coordinate, and revise documents related to corrosion and heat resistant steels and alloys and specialty steels and alloys technology, such as stainless steels and nickel and base alloys, through the participation of metals suppliers, users, and interested government agencies. Committee activities shall provide a forum for the cooperative interchange of ideas and experience of the participants, resulting in the publication of specifications that embody sound, established aerospace industry practices and requirements to serve the suppliers and customers of aerospace materials.
