AMS5548R is the result of a Five-Year Review and update of the specification. The revision establishes size limits and prohibits exceptions to those sizes (1.1, 3.4.4, 3.7, 4.4.2, 5.1.1, 8.5, 8.6), updates composition and reporting (3.1, 3.1.1), adds heat treatment requirements, 3.3, 3.3.1, 3.3.2), adds elongation option (Tables 2 and 3), adds strain rate control 3.4.1.1.1, 3.4.2.3), adds magnification (3.4.1.3), removes superficial hardness (3.4.1.2), adds country of origin (4.4.1), and allows prior revisions (8.4).
