This specification covers established inch/pound manufacturing tolerances applicable to aluminum alloy rolled or cold-finished bar, rod, wire, and forging stock ordered to inch/pound dimensions. These tolerances apply to all conditions, unless otherwise noted. The term "excl" applies only to the higher figure of the specified range. The general temper designation "-TX51" is used for brevity and denotes the full temper designations -T351, -T451, -T651, -T851, and -T7351, the "X" representing one or more digits preceding the "51".
The committee of Nonferrous Alloys, AMS Committee D, shall prepare, coordinate, and revise documents related to nonferrous metals technology, such as aluminum, magnesium, and copper, through the participation of metals suppliers, users, and interested government agencies. Committee activities shall provide a forum for the cooperative interchange of ideas and experience of the participants, resulting in the publication of specifications that embody sound, established aerospace industry practices and requirements to serve the suppliers and customers of aerospace materials.

Wild Cards
Using the asterisk, ( * ) allows you to search for a partial word. For example, entering a keyword search of aero* will search for any word beginning with aero.
Using the question mark, ( ? ) allows you to search for a word with a single character wildcard. For example, searching for t?re would match both tire and tyre
Using Quotes
Words in double quotes " " are treated as a phrase. Conducting a search for "heat model" will return all results in which the exact phrase "heat model" is found, while "heat modeling" would NOT be included.
A term combined with a phrase will be joined with an OR operator.
