Fuel Versus Oxygen: Evaluations and Considerations

Specific Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) define oxygen system requirements for an in-flight decompression incident. This AIR addresses the oxygen system requirements for a decompression incident that may occur at any point during a long-range flight, with an emphasis for a decompression at the equal time point (ETP). This AIR identifies fuel and oxygen management contingencies, and presents a possible solution for the most efficient, safe, and optimum flight continuation.
AIR5648 has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE five-year review policy.

Welcome to the SAE A-10 Aircraft Oxygen Equipment Committee public forum area.The SAE A-10 Aircraft Oxygen Equipment Committee develops standards and practices in the design and information compiled from users, equipment suppliers, aircraft manufacturers, regulatory agencies and medical groups in the aeronautical oxygen field. The A-10 Committee also promotes safety in the aviation oxygen field. It defines the needs and encourages research needed in the area of aviation physiology, as it relates to respiratory functions and oxygen equipment performance.
