- This AIR establishes guidance for the specification of formulated lubricant properties which contribute to the lubricating function in bearings, gears, clutches and seals of aviation propulsion and drive systems.

- Since the initial issuing of AIR5433, the lubricating requirements, as well as the thermal and electrical properties of lubricants, have received increased attention. Further clarification of the test requirements and interpretation of test results have been made in this revision after extensive review in the E-34 Qualified Products Group and subcommittee E-34 E, Aerospace Standards for Turbine Lubricants and E-34 C, Lubricating Characteristics.
