Scope
This document provides test performance requirements for air disc brake actuators for service and combination service parking brake actuators with respect to function, durability and environmental performance when tested according to SAE J2902.
Rationale
This document is the performance requirements associated with the test specification SAE J2902 for air disc brake actuators which are direct caliper face mounted. This standard is similar to SAE J2318 which is the performance requirements associated with SAE J1469 for air actuators for drum brakes.

The Truck and Bus Brake Actuator Committee of the Truck and Bus Brake and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Steering Committee is responsible for developing, reviewing, and approving recommended practices, standards, and information reports related to air brake actuators and their interfacing as used on trucks, tractor-trailer combinations and buses over 10,000 lbs (4500 Kg) GVWR designed primarily for highway use.
