This SAE Standard provides a uniform method to calculate the lift capacity of scrap and material handlers, establishes definitions and specifies machine conditions for the calculations. This document applies to scrap and material handlers as defined in SAE J2506 that have a 360 degrees continuous rotating upper structure. It does not apply to equipment that is incapable of lifting a load completely off the ground. This document applies to those machines that are crawler, wheel, rail and pedestal or stationary mounted.
Rationale
Paragraph 4.1.4 incompletely addresses the orientation and position of oscillating axles and did not address steering axles for lift capacity calculations.
MTC1 addresses standards related to machines, components, and systems specific to earth-moving machinery as described in ISO 6165. This committee reports to ConAg Council through MTC. ConAg Council covers cranes defined in ISO 4301 and machines described in SAE J1116 which include machines defined in ISO 6165, ISO 6814, and ISO 22242, with regards to activities supporting; • Creating consensus SAE standards, recommended practices, and information reports • Harmonizing relevant SAE documents with ISO documents • Assisting the US with the creation and maintenance of ISO standards through US TAGs o ISO/TC 127 --- Earth-moving machinery o ISO/TC 195 --- Building construction machinery and equipment o ISO/TC 23/SC 15 --- Machinery for forestry Participants in this committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and others across the construction and forestry industries.
