- Ground Vehicle Standard
Published July 24, 2013 by SAE International in United States
This SAE Information Report contains definitions for energy storage system and battery terminology. It is intended that this document be a resource for those writing other battery, HEV and EV documents, specifications, standards, or recommended practices.
This document is being created to provide a reference standard for terminology relating to automotive energy storage systems and components. The document will focus on battery systems, subsystems, modules, cells, electrochemical elements and auxiliary components. Terminology for the testing, measurement, specification and use of battery systems is covered as they relate to automotive applications.

Define common terminology for automotive electrochemical energy storage systems at all levels; component, sub-component, subsystem and system-level architectures including terms pertaining to testing , measurement and system function related to energy storage.
* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A redline comparison of the current version against a revision is accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
