Issuing Committee
Truck and Bus Powertrain Committee
The Truck and Bus Powertrain Committee reports to the Truck and Bus Total Vehicle Steering Committee. The committee initiates, develops, reviews and approves standards, recommended practices and technical information reports related to heavy duty power trains. This includes 1) conventional energy management (diesel), alternative fuels (natural gas), mechanical energy storage (flywheels), electrical energy storage, (ultracapacitors), and pneumatic (compressed air, hydraulic hybrids); 2) power generation and conversion (diesel engines, generators, traction motors, hydraulic pumps and motors, retarders); 3) power and torque transmission (manual and automated transmissions, clutches, differentials, axles and drive shafts); 4) accessories and accessory drives; 5) any new technology that may arise that is related to heavy duty truck & bus power trains.
