Automatic Transmission Friction Standards Committee
The Automatic Transmission Friction Standards Committee reports to the Powertrain Systems Group of the Motor Vehicle Council. The Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining SAE Standards, Recommended Practices, and Information Reports related to bench performance evaluation of wet friction systems (friction materials, reaction surfaces and fluids) as used in power-shift torque transfer elements. These elements may function as ratio changing clutches and/or bands, torque converter lockup clutches, launch/start clutches and disconnect clutches depending on the application within a given driveline design. Participants in the SAE Automatic Transmission Friction Standards Committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and other interested parties.
