Scope
This standard test code has been adopted by SAE to specify:

(a)
A laboratory engine dynamometer test procedure.

(b)
A basis for engine power rating.

(c)
A method for correcting observed power to standard inlet air conditions.
The pressure and temperature correction formulas contained herein should be used only within the specified range of conditions (see paragraph 8.4.1) and are not intended for altitude derating.

Engine Power Test Code Committee
The Engine Power Test Code Standards Committee reports to the Powertrain Systems Group of the Motor Vehicle Council. The Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining SAE Standards, Recommended Practices, and Information Reports related to the dynamometer testing of internal combustion engines for applications other than marine or aircraft use. Participants in the SAE Engine Power Test Code Standards Committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and other interested parties.
