Scope
This practice applies to guarding of engine cooling fans used on Off-Road Self-Propelled Work Machines defined in SAE J1116. It does not include guarding for belts, pulleys, or other rotating equipment used on these machines.
Rationale
This standard is being revised to reflect the latest revision of SAE J1116 which removed Agricultural Tractors from the scope.

OPTC, SC1 shall be responsible for engineering standards designated for the general protection of personnel associated with the operation of off-road, self-propelled work machines, and equipment, which is generally used in operations such as landscaping, construction sites, grounds keeping, highway and public works maintenance, and material handling. Excluded from this scope are powered industrial trucks, agricultural self-propelled equipment and implements, on-highway vehicles, and water and air transportation vehicles and machines.
