Scope
This SAE Recommended Practice provides a test procedure for eddy current speedometers, including the odometer if an integral portion of the speedometer, for passenger car service.
Rationale
This document covers technology and products which are mature and are either not likely to change in the foreseeable future or are no longer applicable. The development of a new standard is underway.

Odometer and Speedometer Standards
The Odometer and Speedometer Standards Committee reports to the Vehicle Systems Group of the Motor Vehicle Council. The Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining SAE Standards, Recommended Practices, and Information Reports related to the accuracy of Speedometer and Odometers. Participants in the SAE Odometer and Speedometer Standards Committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and other interested parties.
