This short course is a high-level introduction to the revised SAE standard ARP4761A and its application of the guidelines of practice for aircraft and systems safety assessment. Learners will meet one of the developers of the standard and gain key insights only available from SAE, including how the new standard covers the safety assessment process throughout the development lifecycle and how it interacts with and influences the development of aircraft functions and systems. You’ll get a look into the revised version which published in December of 2023.

This two-hour offering introduces the critical concepts honed through decades of work to ensure you have what you need for early identification and application of safety objectives to influence the architecture and design for both project risk reduction and certification. You’ll hear why this important standard was revised, what has changed and what remains steadfast.

Who Should Attend
Content

Taught by a member of SAE’s S-18 committee developing ARP4754B and ARP4761A, this course is for the systems engineer or other key personnel working on civil aircraft system design and development who need a crisp, compelling overview of the new standard.

Both new and experienced safety professionals in OEMs and their suppliers who lead, develop, implement, and/or have responsibility for the effectiveness of safety systems should participate in this offering. This standard, and its companion ARP4761A have become mandatory for 99% of the world’s civil aircraft, making them a necessity for many of the 7000+ aircraft and systems manufacturers worldwide.

This short course will facilitate success in the full course, C2302 ARP4761A Guidelines for Development of Civil Aircraft and Systems. ARP4754B should not live apart from ARP4761A, so we recommend that you enroll in the short course for both standards.
