SAE 100 Future look: There's no doubt about it: Style has changed quite a bit in the past 100 years. Everything in our world, from clothing to cars, looks drastically different today than when the Society of Automotive Engineers was founded in 1905. Innovation and ingenuity have altered what today's consumers see and feel as they position themselves behind the wheel of a car.

People spend more time in their vehicles today than ever before. At Delphi, we find consumers want their vehicles to have many of the comforts of home. This explains why satellite radio and rear-seat entertainment players are so big in the market now. To date, we've delivered more than 4 million satellite radio receivers to both our OE (original equipment) and retail customers.

But these feelings of “home” and “comfort” go beyond just entertainment. Through the creative design of in-house subsystems-i.e., instrument panels (IPs), consoles, steering wheels and columns, climate control, wiring, electronics, safety systems, switches, and connection systems-Delphi can provide a completely assembled cockpit module with all the comforts of home.
