The editors of Automotive Engineering International highlight some of the more innovative new products and technologies on display at the SAE 2007 World Congress, based on the latest information provided by exhibiting companies.

Dassault Systèmes has developed the V5R17 Delmia body-in-white solution that enables planning engineers to create, modify, and validate automotive body-in-white processes for lines and stations prior to production. This tool accelerates the manufacturing planning process to deliver benefits to customers including: reduced cost and time in bringing a product to market; shortened ramp-up time; increased throughput; and reduction in engineering change orders and tooling costs. The V5R17 features a new resource-centric view that allows process planners to define the overall process, identify the welding points and tools, and validate the throughput and capacity to identify potential bottlenecks and modify the line as needed.
