Scope
This Aerospace Standard (AS) specifies the minimum design and performance criteria and testing methods of passive fire resistant containers (FRCs) used either:

a
In those cargo compartments of civil transport aircraft where they constitute one means of complying with applicable airworthiness regulations, or
-
b
On a voluntary basis, when deemed appropriate by operators to improve fire protection in aircraft cargo compartments where airworthiness regulations do not mandate their use.

This Aerospace Standard specifies the design, performance, and testing requirements applicable to fire resistant containers for air cargo.

Committee AGE-2 reports to the Aerospace General Projects Division. The main, or governing committee, AGE-2, is composed of the most experienced members, mainly from the airlines, airframe manufacturers, and support equipment manufacturers, to provide leadership and guidance for the Membership to implement the work is drawn with reasonable balance from airlines, airframe manufacturers, support equipment manufacturers, and others with special aircraft related expertise. Members serve based on their knowledge, expertise, and experience and not as agents or representatives of any organization.
