This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) covers requirements for nickel-chromium coatings, black oxide or black phosphate coatings, and alternative coatings for aerospace hand tools.
Rationale
This update of AS4984 is for revision purposes, to clarify language within the standard for coating requirement and testing.
AS4984B has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE Five-Year Review policy.

Issuing Committee
The SAE EG-1B Aerospace Hand Tool Committee addresses all facets of aerospace hand tools and tool kits in of support equipment-design, maintenance, and in-service experience. It focuses on support equipment and facilities related to gas turbine engine testing, balancing, engine accessory testing, inspection, packaging, handling, and transportability. High performance hand tools for aerospace applications are also addressed by EG-1B. The group is comprised of government, original equipment manufacturers, and users dedicated to creating, preparing and maintaining all relevant specifications, standards and requirements for aerospace propulsion system support equipment.
