Scope
This document covers monochrome and color LCDs (transmissive, transflective, and reflective), both matrixed and segmented in format, and is applicable to the following types of displays:

In this document the terms “LCD”, “LCD Display”, “Display”, and “Instrument” are synonymous and encompass the display system (e.g., LCD device, drivers, backlight, display processor, etc.), not just the device.

A-4ED Electronics Display Subcommittee
The A-4 Committee/Sub-Committees are responsible for mechanical, electromechanical and electronic cockpit instrumentation standards applicable to all civil aircraft, with emphasis on minimum performance standards intended for reference in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Technical Standard Orders (TSO).
