Aluminum Alloy, Extrusions 5.6Zn - 2.5Mg - 1.6Cu - 0.23Cr (7075-T6511) Solution Heat Treated, Stress Relieved by Stretching, Straightened and Precipitation Heat Treated
- Aerospace Material Specification
This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extruded bars, rods, wire, profiles, and tubing.
These extrusions have been used typically for parts subject to excessive warpage during machining and for parts requiring high strength and whose fabrication does not involve welding or forming, but usage is not limited to such applications.
Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; SAE ARP 823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
Data Sets - Support Documents
The committee of Nonferrous Alloys, AMS Committee D, shall prepare, coordinate, and revise documents related to nonferrous metals technology, such as aluminum, magnesium, and copper, through the participation of metals suppliers, users, and interested government agencies. Committee activities shall provide a forum for the cooperative interchange of ideas and experience of the participants, resulting in the publication of specifications that embody sound, established aerospace industry practices and requirements to serve the suppliers and customers of aerospace materials.
