Scope
This specification covers a standard chloroprene (CR) rubber stock in the form of molded test slabs.
Rationale
AMS3217/3B is now due for revision. Properties in Table 2 have been revised to reflect discontinuation of M2V synthetic lubricant, replacement with IRM 901 reference oil, and material property values. ASTM test methods for testing properties are cited. Equivalent ingredients for Table 1 changes must be approved by SAE AMS CE Committee.

Issuing Committee
Welcome to the AMS-CE Elastomers Committee Discussion Forum.
The AMS-CE Elastomers Committee maintains Aerospace Materials Specifications (AMS), Aerospace Recommended Practices (ARP), Aerospace Information Reports (AIR) and Aerospace Standards (AS) on elastomeric materials. AMS-CE, which reports to the Aerospace Materials Division, coordinates and maintains liaison with industry, government and other standardization groups on elastomeric materials. A significant part of this committee is concerned with elastomeric fluid sealing materials, their applications, material development, testing, quality, design parameters and design practices. * Redlines comparisons are available for those standards
listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A
redline comparison of the current version against a revision is
accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and
then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist
for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
