Abstract
Premixed lean diesel combustion (PREDIC) makes it possible to achieve low NOx emission. It is an important factor to make the lean fuel-air mixture formation for PREDIC. This paper presents the effect of the fuel distribution in spray on fuel-air mixture and emission characteristics were analyzed with the spray observation and numerical simulation. Computational results indicate that NO emission is influenced by spray structure. It is also indicated that lean fuel-air mixture can be formed by hollow cone spray or solid cone spray, and it can reduce NO emissions.
