Abstract
Variations of the accessory drive are commonly discussed in the automotive industry today. Reasons are consumption, package and comfort aspects. This paper presents methods for the investigation of their influence on consumption and emissions. Test drives are the starting point which lead to a Matlab/Simulink block library designed to estimate the potential of the new solutions. In this approach, consumption and emissions are simulated. To overcome the inherited uncertainties, hardware-in-the-loop simulations at a dynamical engine test stand are used. The existing vehicle simulation model is extended with a simulation of the accessories and their drives.
