Abstract
The effect of the groove configuration of segment bonded type paper-based wet clutches and porosity of friction materials on dynamic friction properties was evaluated in this paper. This evaluation was carried out through visualization of the sliding interface of the clutch disk and measurement of the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) velocity into the lining at the surface of friction plate. This evaluation founded that friction plate configurations with large numbers of grooves (small segments) exhibited stable dynamic friction properties with respect to changes in the oil permeation speed at the friction interfaces.
