Many studies about the effects of lubricity additives for diesel fuel have been carried out and reported. These additives have already been used in Europe, North America for a couple of years and it has just started in Japanese market this July. This paper mainly describes the effects of lubricity additives on engine performance and reliability. At first, the effects of engine reliability were investigated during 30 thousand kms chassis dynamometer test. Secondary, the effects on piston ring corrosion, injection nozzle fouling and water separation were investigated. Furthermore, 70 thousand kms engine reliability test was conducted, and investigated some component parts.
