Abstract
In recent years, NATO has taken the decision to move towards the use of a single fuel (JP8) for all the land-based military aircraft, vehicles and equipment when employed on the European Battlefield. The idea has become to be referred to as the Single Fuel Concept (SFC). Two series of experiments were conducted, one using common diesel and a second using JP8 fuel on a high-speed, naturally aspirated, direct-injection M-type piston engine in the Propulsion Systems Laboratory of the Hellenic Air Force Academy. The study shows that no significant differences are observed on the basic operating parameters and the overall performance of the engine.
