Authors Abstract
Content
Using the SAE NO.2 clutch friction test machine, we evaluated the friction characteristics of six DEXRON®-III / MERCON® ATFs and compared with the friction characteristics of the genuine ATFs. The test conditions were those specified by two big Japanese motor companies. We also evaluated the anti-shudder durability of DEXRON®-III / MERCON® ATFs using a modified LVFA.
As the results, the four ATFs showed significantly lower static friction coefficient ( μ s) compared with each genuine ATF in both the SAE NO.2 friction tests. And we found that one ATF was equivalent to the genuine ATF in the anti-shudder durability.
