Abstract
The characteristics of a non-evaporating transient fuel spray were measured as a function of the injection pressure ranged from 55 to 120 MPa. In the experiments, the temporal and spatial characteristics such as the spray cone angle, the spray angle, the spray tip penetration, and the spray tip velocity were detected by the transmitted pulsed laser light. The overall and the local Sauter mean diameters were estimated by means of the laser light extinction method. Also, the inner spray structure was taken by the laser light sheet scattering. The atomization process of the diesel spray injected with high injection pressure is discussed by the use of experimental results.
