Abstract
A simple feedback control system for MBT (Minimum Spark Timing for Best Torque) becomes feasible based on a fact that the crank angle of the maximum combustion pressure (ϑ Pmax) under MBT is found around 12 degrees after top dead center. This is to report our confirmation study about the relationship between MBT and ϑ Pmax at 12 degrees with test results using many different types of spark ignition engines and wide ranges of operating conditions.
