Modelling Injection Rate Control Devices

A non-linear model of wave motion in diesel fuel injection equipment, which was briefly reported in an earlier paper, has been extended to cover several rate modulation devices, including the split-injection a two-spring device. The simulation of the split injection device agrees well with experimental results. The two spring model illustrates some typical development issues with such devices; and goes some way to explain the extent of detail development required for most new applications.
