Authors Abstract
Content
Now as before, the improvement of exhaust gas behaviour and fuel consumption is the premier challenge in modern engine development. To solve future requirements at an optimum time and cost ratio, new concepts for modern exhaust gas laboratories have to be implemented.
The decisive modules are:
  • Exhaust emmission chassis dynamometers
  • Highly dynamic simulation test stands for engines
  • Exhaust gas analysis systems
Beside the individual capabilities of these sub-systems, integration of all modules to a complete system and consistant communication concept are the major pre-requisites for efficient work in such a laboratory.
The lecture deals gas legislation (CARB ULEV for SI-Engines, Euro 2 for Diesel Engines), trends in engine and vehicle development and the resulting demands on modern exhaust gas laboratories. Innovative solutions are illustrated by examples from the practical world.
