Abstract
Engines used in the earthmoving industry have to demonstrate a long service life, excellent engine availability, fuel efficiency and low exhaust gas emissions. This will result in low operating costs, improved truck productivity and sociability as demanded by the customers. One key tool to ensure optimum engine operation along with the highest possible degree of safety and reliability is the electronic engine management. This paper will describe the characteristical features of the governor and safety system for the MTU series 396 truck engine.
