Abstract
A new compressed non-asbestos sheet packing material having almost equal sealability for both lubricant and coolant as well as having mechanical characteristics equal to those of the asbestos sheet packing material has been developed. A new material composition has been utilized for the development.
In this new material composition, the increased amount of aramid and other inorganic fibre and the appropriate filler material are used to result in voids as small in size and as many in number as those of the asbestos sheet packing material. Consequently, with proper compression, dense structure with appropriate tensile strength has been achieved for the new non-asbestos sheet packing material.
Accordingly, several kinds of non-asbestos sheet packing materials have been consolidated into this new non-asbestos sheet packing material.
