A Simple "Field Proven" Engine Performance Prediction Program
Published June 07, 1994 by Institution of Mechanical Engineers in United Kingdom
A method of predicting diesel engine performance is described. The objective of the method is to provide a means of accurately calculating the performance of a turbocharged diesel engine with minimum data input requirements and minimum demand on computer time and capacity. Field results have shown that the predictions of air flow, boost pressure, exhaust gas temperature and specific fuel consumption were sufficiently accurate for the program to replace the emptying and filling programs for all but fundamental studies on exhaust systems, valve and fuel injection timing.
